Gyspy Horse Association ~ DNA Testing
All New Registration Applications with the GHA require DNA testing fo your horse for parentage verification. The University of Kentucky provides the GHA with DNA testing as part of the registration process. You must complete the form and send a hair sample directly to the University Lab. The sample will be analyzed and the results will be sent to the GHA Registrar.
Completed tests are kept at the University and are backed up in our Registrar's Office. All DNA markers are recorded on the back of your horse's registration certificate ~ you may also request a copy of your horse's DNA report from the Registrar at any time. Follow the link below to open our form.
Please note our forms work best if you have an updated version of Adobe Reader to view and save the Registration Application from our website. If you do not have Adobe Reader you can click on the link to the left and follow the instructions to download it before trying to download the form.
DNA Tests are part of regular registration fees. If you have applied and paid for a registration for your horse, you do not need to pay for DNA testing again.
If you would like to have a horse tested separately from registering it (for instance testing unregistered parents of your registered horse) you can use our PayPal option below to pay for individual DNA tests. The UKY provides parentage testing to our members for $32.00.
Click on the PayPal button below and you will be directed to our PayPal site where you can either use your existing account or will be instructed on how to set up a new account to pay for your DNA Test. PayPal accepts several methods of payment including credit cards.
If you have questions about DNA testing or any other registration related question please contact our Registrar Jill Wilson at registrar@gypsyhorseassociation.org or call toll free (802) 595-3100.
